Dubai Capitals kept their playoffs hopes alive by winning the 29th match of the International League T20 2023 by seven wickets.

After opting to bowl first, Dubai Capitals had an ideal start as their pacer Jake Ball gathered two wickets in the second over of the innings.

As the MI Emirates progressed towards recovery, Sikandar Raza did the trick for the Capitals as he knocked out Lorcan Tucker in the last ball of the powerplay.

Nicholas Pooran's 31-ball 43 allowed the Emirates a fighting score, however, as Adam Zampa won the battle against him, it meant that the visiting team was not up to snuff in setting the total as they ended the innings at 164/7.

Shanaka, Raza's 100-plus run stand creates a recipe for success

While Dubai Capitals' run-chase seemed to go pear-shaped as they were brought down to 44/3 from 44/0, Dasun Shanaka and Sikandar Raza formed a 122-run partnership that eventually won the hosts the game.

The duo scored half-centuries, ending unbeaten on the night which at one stage looked all set to spoil the Capitals' playoff dream.

Dubai finished the match in the 19th over for the loss of three wickets.

MI Emirates - 164/7 (20)
