A successful tri-series in Sri Lanka has powered India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana to the second spot on ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings. With 727 rating points in front of her name, Mandhana is only behind South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt (738).

Second-highest run-scorer in the series, the left-handed batter scoring 264 runs at an average of 52.80 and a strike rate of 90.41 with the help of one century and half-century each allowed her to replace England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt (725) at Rank 2.

Notably, with a career-best 799 points under her belt, Mandhana was the top-ranked ICC ODI Women’s batter in 2019. The kind of form that she is in, it wouldn’t be surprising to see her reclaim the top spot in the near future. For the unversed, Mandhana’s 1,231 runs are almost double than the second-best batter in Women’s ODIs in the last 12 months.

Jemimah Rodrigues And Sneh Rana Also Shine

India batter Jemimah Rodrigues, who is behind Mandhana in terms of most ODI runs in the last year, jumped as many as five spots to reach a career-best 15th position on Women’s ODI batting rankings.

Having scored a career-best 123 (101) including 15 fours and a six against South Africa in Colombo last week, the 24-year-old player replaced her captain Harmanpreet Kaur at the 15th position. The two-right-handed batters are separated by a solitary point.

Having played an ODI after 16 months during the recently concluded Sri Lanka tour, India all-rounder Sneh Rana also achieved a career-best joint 34th-place in the ICC Women’s ODI bowling rankings. If Mandhana was the Player of the Match in the final, Rana bagged the Player of the Series award for dismissing 15 batters at an average of 14, an economy rate of 4.73 and a strike rate of 17.73.
