The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final was set to take place on May 25, however, unforeseen circumstances led to the finale being postponed to June 3. The reason for it is the suspension of the league midway due to the ongoing conflicts between India and Pakistan.

After a brief suspension, the league will once again resume on Saturday with a revised schedule announced on Monday. As per it, the finale will now take place on June 3. Hence, the question arises, what happened the last time an IPL final took place in the month of June, instead of May?.

What happened the last time IPL final happened in June?

The last time IPL finale took place in June was the 2014 edition where Punjab Kings met Kolkata Knight Riders in a riveting battle. This was a game between two batting heavyweights and while KKR were chasing their second title, the George Bailey led side were gunning for their maiden IPL title win.

PBKS batted first and surprisingly, the most unlikeliest of hitter, Wriddhiman Saha stole the show with the bat. The Punjab batter, coming in at number 4 demonstrated his T20 prowess as he blasted an unbeaten 115 off 55, laced with 8 sixes as the Kings managed to post 199/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

Forgotten India star gives KKR their second IPL title

KKR were in trouble, chasing 200 runs on the board, but just when all hopes were lost, Manish Pandey, the KKR star injected life into the game as the one-man army for his side played with grit and determination to score 94 off 50 deliveries.

The unlikely finisher, Piyush Chawla, provided the finishing touches as KKR won the game with 3 balls to spare.
