India managed to get past Sri Lanka in a contest where they were looking in trouble after losing four wickets for just 86 runs in a chase of 216.

The game was first turned by chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav with the ball and later, KL Rahul with the bat, bailing India out of trouble to gain an unassailable lead in the series.

After the match, skipper Rohit Sharma was asked about the combination that they were playing today to which he replied that batting deep certainly helps in games like this. He was further quite satisfied with how they have gone so far and hope to do well in the upcoming future.

"Yes, I thought it was a close game. Games like these teach a lot. It was not easy batting out there. Batting depth helped. KL batting at 5 is great for us and Hardik as well. They have done well before as experienced players.

"Hindsight is a wonderful thing. We would have loved to have a left-hander, but I don't look at it this way. These guys have done well last year and we have quality right-handers. The 3 ODIS against New Zealand and the long home season. If need be, we will make changes. Kuldeep has been fantastic. He got us back in the game."

India's next game against Sri Lanka will be played on 15th January in Thiruvananthapuram.
