In the latest news, it has been revealed that the Indian team management has decided to rest KL Rahul for the third T20I of the ongoing series versus South Africa.

Moreover, Virat Kohli has also been given a break which means that both of the star batters will next be seen in the practice matches in the lead up to the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled in Australia.

BCCI official's comment

"Yes, both Virat and Rahul have been rested from the final T20I,”

The duo will join the rest of the squad in Mumbai from where a flight for Australia will leave on October 6.

With Virat rested, Shreyas Iyer, who has been named as one of the reserves for the nearing ICC event, could make his way to the playing XI tomorrow. While in Rahul's place, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammed Siraj or Umesh Yadav could be picked.

Rahul ends all doubts

With Rahul's spot in India's World Cup XI all but a certainty, India will most probably open with Suryakumar Yadav or Rishabh Pant tomorrow.

Doubts loomed large over the 30-year-old's spot before the South Africa series. However, as he scored back-to-back half-centuries in the previous two games, it now makes him a sure-shot opener for the World Cup.

India and South Africa will play in a dead-rubber on October 4 at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.
