Former number one ICC T20 batter Dawid Malan has backed his team Trent Rockets to clinch their maiden The Hundred Men's title. Led by Lewis Gregory, the Rockets occupy the top spot in the points table with 12 points, having won six and lost two.

Malan battered and bruised the Welsh Fire-side last evening, smashing 58 off 37 balls, during his side's 29-run win at Nottingham. The 34-year-old is the leading run-getter this season, amassing 358 runs at an average of 59.66, with four fifties and one duck.

The Rockets were knocked out by eventual winners Southern Brave last season in the eliminator and will look to finish one-step better this time.  Eliminator will take place on September 2 at Southampton.

Malan also praised the backroom staff, for ensuring the team is well-balanced despite missing a few internationals mid-way.

"We’ve got so many options, we can leave a spinner out and bring in an extra seamer. I think we've got a well-balanced squad. We just need to get one more good performance or two more depending on where we are.

We've got a lot of guys with a lot of experience and they might not be the massive names, that get picked up all over the shop but, the players like Samit (Patel) and Hales, myself, Lewis Gregory, you know, the experience that we've got there it helps so much in these tournaments."

Malan has been well supported by Alex Hales, who is eyeing a place in the England T20I squad. Hales is the second-highest run-scorer with 251 runs, ahead of New Zealand's Colin Munro (190).

Samit Patel (10) is the leading wicket-taker for his side, followed by Luke Wood (9), Tabraiz Shamsi (5), and Sam Cook (7). Rashid Khan played only two matches before leaving the competition for international duties.
