Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan are all set to be selected for the first unofficial Test between India A and England Lions according to the report from Indian Express. The first Test will start from May 30, and according to Indian Express, the 14-member squad for the first game has already been selected.
Karun Nair Set To Rewarded For Consistent Domestic Performances
The decision to select a squad for only one game has been made due to the new schedule of IPL 2025 where playoff matches are colliding with the first India A game against England Lions. Along with Ishan Kishan and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair who is playing for DC in IPL is set to get his chance after stellar performance in the last domestic season.
Players like Nitish Reddy, Dhruv Jurel, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Akash Deep, Tanush Kotian who were part of the squad on the Australian tour are all set to showcase their talent on the English soil. The inclusion of Dhruv Jurel and Ishan Kishan means that Sanju Samson is likely to miss the cut in red-ball cricket yet again.
Shardul Thakur who had a successful stint in Ranji Trophy recently is also back in the mix while Anshul Kamboj and Manav Suthar, the two consistent domestic performers, could also get a chance to prove their worth before the main series. Khaleel Ahmed is also back in contention after some impactful spells in domestic cricket.
India To Start New Era Under Shubman Gill
The Gujarat Titans stars - Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar are likely to feature in the second game against England Lions which will start on June 6. However, the report states that Sarfaraz Khan will not play for India A and will directly fly to England with the senior team.
Shubman Gill is likely to lead India in the five-match Test series that will start on June 20 and it will be a tough Test for a young team after the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
