Scotland cricketers Matthew Cross and Mark Watt have been imposed with a fine of 10 percent of their match fees by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The two players were found to have breached the ICC Code of Conduct during Scotland’s recent Cricket World Cup League 2 match against Netherlands in Amstelveen on May 10.

Scotland also lost the match in contention by 19 runs, and they are currently ranked fifth on the World Cup League 2 points table with 16 points from 14 matches.

Scotland players fined and demerited

Matthew Cross and Mark Watt have both received a demerit point each, apart from getting penalized with 10 percent of their match fees, for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the match between Scotland and Netherlands.

Wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Cross showed dissent to the umpire after getting adjudged LBW to Roelof van der Merwe in the game. Left-arm spinner Matt Watt, on the other hand, threw his cap hard on the ground and expressed his disagreement to the umpire, who turned down the cricketer’s appeal against Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards.

Scotland also lost the match as they failed to chase down Netherlands’ 282-7 by 19 runs. George Munsey compiled 106 runs at the top of the order, but a collective failure from the rest of the line-up ensured Scotland could reach only 263-9.

Matthew Cross listed 47 runs at a near run-a-ball before becoming the eighth wicket of his team’s innings. Mark Watt claimed figures of 1-48 from his 10 overs during the Netherlands innings by picking up the wicket of opening batter Michael Levitt.
