Shubman Gill was found in front of the stumps while facing England's offspinner Shoaib Bashir who then alongside the entire side appealed for LBW which was given straight away by the umpire. Gill reviewed but to no use as the impact was umpire's call and rest were hitting the stumps with no edge from the bat. He's back in the hut for 38. India: 86/2

Gill Takes On Robinson

Shubman Gill found two boundaries against Ollie Robinson after one turned out to be a no-ball. He's continuing to build on an innings here with Yashasvi Jaiswal as the duo look set and comfortable against the English bowlers. India: 84/1

Jaiswal Survives!

This was edged by Jaiswal and ball went to keeper Ben Foakes who claimed it as a catch alongside the entire English side. The decision was sent upstairs and it was then confirmed that the ball bounced just before the keeper's gloves. It comes as Not-Out and what is surprising is that the Ben Stokes and the English side were celebrating quite aggressively after seeing the replay as if they were convinced. However, the verdict which went against them shook them with sudden disappointment.

Anderson Getting Some Reverse

Okay, so there are some dark clouds hovering over the stadium in Ranchi, and the ball has started to reverse for the great Jimmy Anderson. He's getting the ball to come back on different occasions, but Shubman Gill still found two boundaries off his over. That's good batting and bowling. India: 57/1

Jaiswal keeps the Scorecard ticking

He's continuing to impress with his resilience and patience against Anderson who did bowl well in the initial spell. Currently, he's on 34 with Gill on the score of 11. Gill, meanwhile, has been supporting him well by staying on the crease and rotating the strike. India: 48/1

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 2: Second Session Begins

All right. We're back for the second session of the day two between India and England in Ranchi. Shoaib Bashir to start off with Shubman Gill on strike and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the other end. Here we go.

Jaiswal And Gill Steady The Ship Before Lunch

The young duo takes the responsibility and provides India a good half an hour. They take India to lunch with 34 on the board with the loss of one wicket as they found occasional boundaries. Run-scoring has been good with a rate of 3.4 runs an over. They have done well and will need to stay at the crease until the next session atleast to ensure a decent total. India: 34/1

Anderson Finds Rohit's Edge!

Horrible start this for India! Skipper Rohit Sharma departs for 2 after nicking one to keeper Ben Foakes off the goat Anderson. That is a perfect delivery. Perfect length and perfect line! India: 4/1

Second Session Begins!

Okay! Here we go! Yashasvi Jaiswal up against Jimmy Anderson while skipper Rohit Sharma will be at the other end. Remember, India are behind by 353! That's a good total on this wicket. Let's see how it goes.

Gone! Jimmy Anderson is gone too! Jadeja traps him in front of the stumps, who was trying playing a lap sweep. Given out on field and goes for the review straightway. The replays are in and there is not bat involved. The ball tracking is up and it's three reds. Good decision from Dharmasena and England have been knocked over on 353. That's first hour of play done! England were cruising at one stage but two wickets just before drinks have given India a chance to bowl them out quickly.

Shoaib Bashir Comes & Goes!

Bashir doesn't last more than two deliveries as he gets dismissed in the same over against Jadeja. Plays a wild heave only to be caught at backward point. England lose two in quick succession. India will try getting Jimmy Anderson out now. England: 349/9

Robison finally departs!

Ollie Robinson tries reversing against Ravindra Jadeja, manages to get a faint edge as Dharmasena raises the finger. Robinson goes up only to be turned down with ball touching his gloves as he walks back after a fine show. England: 347/8

A close call for catch but falls short

Outside edge and doesn't carry to Rohit. He isn't sure and asks the on-field umpires to send it upstairs. This was a flighted delivery from Kuldeep that drifts away from Root who looks to defend it but gets an outside edge. It goes low to Rohit who dives to his right but takes it on a bounce. The third umpire is having a look at it. The replays are in and it has clearly bounced before settling in the hands of Rohit. NOT OUT is displayed on the big screen.

100 Partnership Between Root & Robinson

These two have been dominant right from the start. What a partnership this has been for England. They have set the platform now for the big total. Robinson the main contributor with bat in this partnership. India will have to break this stand now. England: 345/7

Robinson gets to his Half-Century

Ollie Robinson smashes debutant Akash Deep for three boundaries in the over. He is set. He is going to go big now every over. Runs coming freely for England. Meanwhile, gets to his half-century in style by taking Jadeja to boundary as well. England: 331/7

Siraj tried bouncing out Robinson here with a short delivery in the third over of the day but instead, the ball bounced too much for keeper Jurel to catch up with it and goes for four byes. Next delivery, he finds Robinson's pads only for the appeal to be turned down. Also, there was an inside edge which made it the right decision.

Second New Ball Taken After Boundary

Robinson finds boundary on the very first ball of the day. That's how England are going to play today. Every run is crucial for them at this stage. Anyway, India have taken the new ball after just second delivery. Will be interesting to see how this pans out now.

India dominated the first session with five wickets, however, Joe Root and Ben Foakes took the responsibility to provide England with a wicketless second session while forming a 113-run partnership. Root, meanwhile, continued to bat till the end and stayed not out by the end of the day smashing his 31st Test century under pressure. England's day ended on 302 with seven wickets down as they will hope to return back tomorrow and continue the momentum. Ollie Robinson is forward to defend it but gets beaten on the outside edge. It clips his front pad and it misses the off-stump by a whisker and hits Jurel on the right leg. Jadeja and Jurel appeal for LBW but Kumar Dharmasena turns it down. Replays show no inside-edge and India couldn't review because they didn't have any left.

Ohhh!!! That's a delivery to remember! Mohammed Siraj has knocked over Tom Hartley this time. Too good of a delivery. Comes a bit wider of the crease and angles this length delivery on the stumps. Tom Hartley survives! That was given out by umpire Dharmasena but he reviewed it straightaway. Good delivery by Ashwin which was slider that looked like coming in to the left-hander. Mohammed Siraj delivers again as he gets the much needed wicket of Ben Foakes who was caught at mid-wicket by Jadeja. This is what India were after. 113-run stand broken and that pulls the home side back in the game. Foakes is gone for 47 after his wonderful innings. England: 225/6

That is some way to get to the 100-run partnership between Joe Root and Ben Foakes as the latter smashes Ashwin for six to get to the landmark. This has been quality innings from both these batters. This was England's session by all means. They have not lost a single wicket in the entire session for the first time in the series. They needed that recovery after the first session that completely derailed them. Root and Foakes' impressive show takes them to 198 for the loss of five wickets.

"Flatter delivery from Jadeja that comes in with the angle, Foakes is hanging back to defend it but gets beaten on the inside edge and he wears it on the front pad. A loud appeal from Jadeja and Jurel but the umpire turns it down. Rohit has a chat with his teammates and sends it upstairs. No bat involved and looks like it might go down leg. The ball tracking is up and it's Missing Leg. India lose all their reviews now."

Rohit was forced to go for the review by Jadeja and Jurel as he himself wasn't convinced. They was going down the leg on first look.

Root brings up his half-century

Joe Root has finally played like Joe Root today and the result is there to see. 50 for the great man. Again, no reverse scoops or irrelevant shots. Very characteristic innings under pressure considering they were 5 down for 112. He needs to score big today if England wants to stay in the series. England: 176/5

Now, that's a massive moment in the game. Was on 48 when a leg side delivery from Kuldeep Yadav went after hitting Jurel's glove. Was given leg-byes by the umpire but replays confirmed the big inside-edge which clear it as a dropped chance. They ran two on leg-byes though.

India Loses Their Second Review

That was given not-out by Kumar Dharmasena. Joe Root strided forward against Jadeja but was hit on the pads which looked very close to the bat. Rohit went for the review and it turned out to be bat first, marginally. India loses their second review. They are playing high-risk cricket.

India Review And Bairstow is Gone!

"A loud appeal for LBW but turned down by the umpire. Ashwin tosses this up on the fuller side on the stumps, Bairstow gets down on one knee and goes for the sweep but misses. He wears it on the back leg and Ashwin is confident but the umpire turns it down. Looked close to the naked eye and Rohit decides to send it upstairs. It's a fair delivery to start and there is a flat line on the UltraEdge when the ball is close to the bat. The third umpire asks for ball tracking and it's crashing on the middle pole. Rod Tucker reverses his decision and Bairstow departs. Ashwin picks up his 100th Test wicket against England."

That is as good as anything for the home side. Four wickets before lunch on Day-1, they will take that, infact, anyone will take that. Bairstow was scoring freely, just 35 balls for his 38 and now, India back at it. Ashwin wickets against England touches 100. Skipper Ben Stokes walks in. England: 109/4

Bairstow on Charge Now

Two consecutive boundaries for Bairstow against Siraj. He is in good flow now. Seems to have found his rhythm. Will surely want to score big today. Smacks Ravichandran Ashwin for a six in his first over. He's getting aggressive.

Sightscreen Issues For Bairstow

He has stopped both the bowlers Siraj and Akash Deep in their run-ups citing sight-screen issue. Having a chat with the bowler, though. He's signalling it to the umpires now who then tells it to Rohit.

Drinks Break, First Hour of Play Done

That is first hour of play done! England have lost three now. India in commanding position all of a sudden. There's something for the fast bowlers here. Firstly, debutant Akash Deep Got Ben Duckett Out, then, two deliveries later got Ollie Pope's wicket and just before drinks, managed to bag Zak Crawley's prized wicket as well. Akash Deep's bowling speed has been in the mid-130's but what is causing the English batters trouble is the seam movement.

That's the reply! Akash Deep is breathing fire in Ranchi! He's knocked over Crawley again but this time, he is inside the crease. Comes back in and again, gets the better of Crawley. What a period of play that for India. The debutant shattering the English dream! England: 57/3.

That came back in from Akash Deep. He's on fire! Wraps Root on his pads. That looked close. India reviews again but unfortunately, this time, the impact is just outside the off-stump. That would have been a massive wicket.

Two in Two For Akash Deep!

Ollie Pope walked onto the crease and departed after facing just two deliveries. It smashed his pads which did look close. They went for the review. Turns out all three reds. Two in the over for the debutant, who could have had three. Rohit went for the review after JuBairrel asked for it. Pope departs for Duck. England: 46/2.

Akash Deep Strikes! Finally!

Akash Deep strikes for India as he gets the big big wicket of Ben Duckett. It was edged and taken by keeper Dhruv Jurel. Perfectly bowled. Finally, his wicket in international cricket, and, and, It's not a no ball!! He can have some relief now. England: 46/1

"An off-break on a good length that pitches a shade outside off and turns in, Duckett gets down on one knee and goes for the sweep but misses. All the close-in fielder go up but Kumar Dharmasena's finger stays down. Jadeja was pleading but 'NO' says the umpire. Rohit decides to send it upstairs. It's a fair delivery to start and there is no bat involved. The third umpire asks for ball tracking. Pitching Outside Off, Impact Umpire's Call and Wickets is Umpire's Call. The original decision of NOT OUT stays."

Ohhh!!! That was close! Could have gone either way, had it not been for umpire's call. Anyway, Duckett will stay at the crease.

Ravindra Jadeja handed over the ball in the ninth over only. Tells you, this game might just be for the spinners if pacers are tonked like that.

Crawley Takes On Siraj

4, 4, 4, 6! That's how the last over went for Siraj against Zak Crawley, who showed no mercy to the pacer. That is some batting. England flying now. Crawley in no mood to stop. He is going at run-a-ball, 32-ball 32.

Blunder By Akash Deep

What a delivery that was from Akash Deep in his second over to knock the stumps of Zak Crawley. Unfortunately, turned out to be a front foot no-ball. Could have been a dream start to his career but not to be! That was a delivery to remember though for any fast bowler.

Two Paced Wicket

The ball is certainly doing something on length for the fast bowlers, evidenced by some occasional bounce for Siraj in the first over, which by the way turns out to be a maiden over.
