England are making every effort to stay alive in the five-match Test series against India, as they face off in the fourth Test at JSCA International Cricket Stadium, Ranchi. With India winning two matches, they currently hold a 2-1 lead in the series.

With Indian batters finding it extremely tough to find answers against the tweak attack of Shoaib Bashir and Tom Hartley, Ashwin became the last causality on Day 2.

India's innings started off on the wrong foot, losing their captain Rohit Sharma cheaply with the score of just two runs from nine balls. Yashasvi Jaiswal, a consistent performer with two double centuries, once again stood out with 73 runs from 117 balls, but the rest of the batters faltered.

Among the batters, Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin seemed to struggle big time against the English bowling attack, unable to settle even after facing more than 10 balls before getting trapped LBW by Tom Hartley.

It all happened on the second delivery of the 56th over when Hartley bowled a good length delivery angled back towards the stumps. Ashwin attempted to defend while being forward, but was beaten on the inside edge, prompting the on-field umpire, Kumar Dharmasena, to raise his finger.

Additionally, Tom Hartley (18) has gone past India's Jasprit Bumrah - who is not playing the Ranchi Test - as the leading wicket-taker in the series.

Ashwin was in doubt, so he decided to take a review. However, due to the umpire's call, he was eventually adjudged out. He could only manage 1 run after facing 13 balls. With India reduced to 219/7, the team is currently reeling, with Dhruv Jurel (30*) and Kuldeep Yadav (17*) at the crease.

Apart from Jaiswal, no other Indian batter has been able to surpass the 50-run mark. At stumps on Day 2, India trail by 134 runs.
