The Rajkot Test win against England was one to savour for premier India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja as his great allround display helped the Rohit Sharma-led hosts take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Jadeja produced an excellent first-innings century and bagged a fifer while taking seven wickets for the match to earn a much-deserved 'Player of the Match' trophy. It was one of the great allrounder's finest performances in Test cricket for India.

While Jadeja's special knock of 112 was pivotal in India's turnaround after being reduced to a precarious 33/3 on the first morning, his figures of 2/51 and 5/41 were also highly influential in Rohit's men thwarting and suppressing the 'Bazball' threat.

Along the way, Jadeja also pulled off a magnificent feat as a left-arm spinner in Test cricket. The 35-year-old became latest in the history of the game to bag 200 or more scalps in Tests played in India.

So we at 'OneCricket' today, enlist all the great bowlers who have excelled in Indian conditions with the ball and emerged as the top wicket-takers for Tests played in India.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is now fifth in this elite bracket of Indian greats with 206 scalps attained over 42 home Tests at 20.77 apiece, including 11 five-wicket hauls. The left-arm spinner has been running riot in home Tests over the past decade and with his allround excellence, given the Indian team an unprecedented edge and strong balance. Like Harbhajan to Kumble, Jadeja has been an exceptional second spinner in an Indian spin attack led by Ashwin.

Kapil Dev

Below Kumble on the fourth spot is former skipper and legendary allrounder Kapil, who finished his illustrious career with 219 Test wickets taken in India in 65 matches. With his speeds and ability to generate swing and reverse swing, Kapil Dev managed to excel even on spin-friendly Indian surfaces, taking 11 five-wicket hauls.

Harbhajan Singh

Third in the list is Harbhajan Singh, who recorded 265 wickets in India over 55 Tests at an average of 28.76, featuring 18 five-wicket hauls and a best of 8/84. Renowned for the extra bounce he extracted with a rhythmic action and overspin he imparted on the ball, the Turbanator haunted the visiting players and along with Kumble formed a devastating spin pairing that retained India's dominance in home conditions.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin stands only two wickets behind numero uno and his inspiration Kumble. The premier India off-spinner and the modern-day legend has been a nemesis of touring batters. Ashwin, who became only the second Indian to bag 500 Test wickets in the Rajkot Test, currently boasts of 348 wickets in India at an average of 21.31 with 26 five-wicket hauls. He could become the top wicket-taker in India at the end of the next Test in Visakhapatnam.

Anil Kumble
