Afghanistan have shown confidence in Ibrahim Zadran, who has shown a good track record as the skipper for the team, as the squad has flourished under his leadership. The squad is struck with multiple injuries as their captain and ace spin bowler Rashid Khan continues his time in the rehab while recovering from a back injury.

The team’s key player Mujeeb Ur Rahman and youngster Mohammad Saleem Safi will also miss the series due to a phalanx and hamstring injury respectively. While announcing the squad, the team management highlighted that they are looking forward to building a strong T20 team ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024

Afghanistan will next participate in the T20I series against Ireland in March, after the conclusion of Afghanistan’s tour of Sri Lanka.
