Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mark Boucher informed that the franchise may finally hand the much-awaited debut cap to Arjun Tendulkar in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Among the domestic recruits for Mumbai Indians, Arjun is one of the exciting options, who can be included in the XI as an all-rounder or can even come into the equation as the team's impact player in few of the games.

Although Mumbai bought him for Rs 30 lakh in IPL 2022 auction, he did not get to play a single match. He still has been retained for the upcoming season.

"Arjun is just coming off a slight little injury. So he is going to be playing tonight and hopefully we can see him do what he can do. I think he has been playing quite a bit of cricket in the last 6 months. They have been very good for him as a bowler so yeah, if we can have him available for selection, it'll be pretty good for us," Boucher said as quoted in a press conference.

MI skipper Rohit Sharma gave an open-ended response when asked about the same.

"Good question. Hopefully, maybe," Rohit replied to a reporter's query.

The captain also commented on Bumrah's unavailability and how big a blow it is for them. However, he sees this as an opportunity for the youngsters to step up.

"Regarding Bumrah's replacement, we've been discussing a few options. Hopefully, we can close it down in the next couple of days and then we see how we will go about it.

Mumbai Indians will start their IPL 2023 campaign on April 2 against Royal Challengers Bangalore at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
