Making most of his home conditions Heinrich Klaasen smashed a scintillating ton to fire his Durban's Super Giants to a one-sided win over Pretoria Capitals at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on February 6. With the 151-run victory, the Super Giants are still alive in the race to the semi-finals.

Klaasen lights up Centurion with a Century

After losing the toss and being forced to bat first, de Kock and Co. got a major head start to the innings as duo openers, skipper Quinton de Kock and Australian recruit Ben McDermott provided a strong start with a 76-run partnership. Michael Pretorius struck twice in the middle overs to derail the DSG innings.

Making most of his batting promotion and the solid foundation laid by the openers, Klaasen took the centre stage and went all-out against a strong bowling unit of the Capitals. By the end of the 14th over, the Super Giants were 170/4.

Klaasen then shared a wonderful unbeaten 84-run fifth-wicket stand with young Matthew Breetzke to power Durban’s Super Giants to the biggest ever T20 score-254/4 at the Super Sport Park.

Klaasen remained unbeaten till the end and carried his bat with a score of 104* off just 44 balls. He smashed six sixes and ten fours en-route to his maiden SA20 century.

Meanwhile, Migael Pretorius scalped two wickets while James Neesham and Joshua Little bagged one wicket each during the first innings.

Dala strangles Capitals with three-fer

In response to the total set by the home side, the Capitals needed their openers to lay a solid foundation, much like how the Super Giants built in the first innings.

The Pretoria batters tried to get going from the start but kept losing wickets consistently as the scoreboard pressure got the better of them. Similar to the last game, Reece Topley struck early with the ball dismissing the dangerous Phil Salt. Playing his first game, Junior Dala also got in the act and dismissed the other opener- Kusal Mendis.

Theunis de Bruyn and Rilee Rossouw tried to shift the momentum with a flurry of boundaries but once they departed, the Capitals kept losing wickets and could only manage to post 103 in response to 255 set by DSG. Only three PC batters reached double figures.

There wasn't a single partnership of substance and that meant they never had the momentum in the run-chase.

Junior Dala led the Super Giants' bowling effort with three wickets, while all-rounders Wiaan Mulder and Dwaine Pretorius scalped 2 wickets each and backed him up to help dismantle the Capitals' batting order.
