According to emerging reports, Sanjog Gupta is all set to be appointed as the new CEO of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Mr Gupta is currently serving as the CEO of Sports & Live Experiences at JioStar.

ICC To Witness Indian Influence; Sanjog Gupta To Join Jay Shah

According to several media agencies, including The Deccan Herald, JioStar's Sports & Live Experiences CEO Sanjog Gupta will likely replace Geoff Allardice as the new ICC Chief Executive. Currently, former BCCI secretary and ACC chairman Jay Shah is the ICC chairman, while Allardice is serving his notice period.

As the Deccan Herald reported, Sanjog Gupta has already been contacted by the ICC, with the apex cricketing body offering him the CEO's role. Mr Gupta has previously worked with Jay Shah and their partnership could ensure an Indian influence in the all-round development of cricket as a global sport.

Sanjog Gupta has a BA in Economics from the Delhi University, and he started his career as a journalist for The Tribune. He shifted his base to TV Today Network as a producer-anchor and correspondent before switching to Star News India and NDTV.

He eventually collaborated with INTV, Star Movies and BBC World Service before getting involved in an inspirational journey with Star TV.

Major Challenges For Sanjog Gupta As ICC CEO

With the Indian Premier League gradually expanding from 74 to 94 matches, it could be a challenging task for Sanjog Gupta to work with the BCCI and ensure the international cricketing window remains unaffected.

Added to that, the tense geo-political relations between India and Pakistan are also expected to emerge as a potent threat to the success of the upcoming ICC events, and it will be interesting how Mr Gupta deals with it in the coming years.
