Veteran England pacer Katherine Brunt has announced her retirement from regional and County cricket, ending her association with Northern Diamonds and Yorkshire, respectively.

Brunt, who also retired from Test cricket last year, will remain available to play white-ball cricket for England and also feature in 2023 The Hundred Women's league for Trent Rockets.

The veteran cricketer has scored 2,048 runs and picked up 95 wickets since making her senior debut with Yorkshire in 2001.

The pacer played eight matches for the Northern Diamonds and picked 15 wickets while scoring 67 runs.

In her statement, the 37-year-old pointed out that she wanted to give youngsters a chance and did not want to take others' place.

Here's what Brunt said

"I don't want to take up someone's place in the team. I wouldn't think that's fair when there's been so much good young talent in that Diamonds set-up,

"I don't want to be opening the bowling for Yorkshire, or the Diamonds, when someone like a Lizzie Scott is absolutely capable of doing it and needs to get herself out there."

Brunt has been selected in England's 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023.
