A total of four teams engaged in two cracking T20 contests on Saturday, January 14 in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Let’s take a quick review of the action that transpired between the four teams: 

Match 11: Fortune Barishal vs Comilla Victorians

Result: Fortune Barishal won by 12 runs

Asked to bat first, the Fortune Barishal rode on Shakib Al Hasan's belligerent and unbeaten 81-run knock (off 45 balls) to post a mammoth total of 177 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. 

Apart from Shakib, Anamul Haque (20), Chaturanga de Silva (21), and Ibrahim Zadran (27) also chipped in with valuable contributions with the bat. For Comilla, Tanvir Islam was the pick of the bowlers, having bagged a four-wicket haul. 

In the second half of the game, Comilla Victorians tried hard but could manage only 165 runs in the allocated 20 overs, hence losing the match with 12 runs. Khushdil Shah (43), and Litton Das (32) were their top run-scorers. 

For Fortune Barishal, Shakib Al Hasan, Chaturanga de Silva, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Karim Jannat, all picked one wicket each.

Match 12: Dhaka Dominators vs Chattogram Challengers 

Result: Chattogram Challengers won by 8 wickets.

It was a low-scoring affair between the two teams on Saturday. Opting to bat first at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, the Dominators charted 158 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. 

Usman Ghani and Mizanur Rahman provided the team with a flying start as they put on a 60-run stand for the opening partnership. Later, the late-innings blitz from Nasir Hossain, and Ariful Haque steered Dhaka to a challenging total. 

In reply, Chattogram Challengers chased down the target of 159 runs without breaking a sweat. Afif Hossain played a flamboyant knock of 69 runs off 52 balls while Darwish Rasooli smacked 56 from just 33 deliveries to hunt down the target in just 17.4 overs.
