Ahead of the second One-Day International (ODI) against India, Sri Lanka received worrying news about fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka's injury. The left-handed pacer dislocated his right shoulder while fielding in the outfield in the first ODI, which was confirmed by the Sri Lanka Cricket Twitter handle.

Madushanka was sent for X-rays and MRI scans, where reports confirmed the unfortunate injury. Team Management will decide the future course of action, with the bowler's participation in the Kolkata ODI today looking unlikely.

India lead the three-ODI series 1-0 after winning the first encounter by 67 runs, where Madushanka made his 50-overs debut for the Lankan Lions. The 22-year-old picked up the wicket of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for 83.

Here's what SLC Tweeted

"Dilshan Madushanka dislocated his right shoulder while diving in the outfield during the 1st ODI. He was sent for an X-ray and MRI. Upon receiving the said reports, the team management will decide on the future course of action."

Madushanka, since making his debut last year, has managed to trouble Indian batters with his angle, something that was evident in his first T20I against India in the Asia Cup 2022.

However, bowling all-rounder, Chamika Karunaratne is expected to be fully fit for the second match after suffering an injury ahead of the toss in the opening match.
