Axar Patel has been nothing short of brilliant in India's series against Sri Lanka. After scoring 117 runs in 3 innings at an average of 117.00 and a strike rate of 195, Axar ended the series as the 'Man of the series'. The all-rounder also took 3 wickets in 3 matches at an average of 14.66 and an economy rate of 7.40.
In the last T20I game of the 3-match series, Axar admitted to feeling delighted by contributing with the ball. He also stated that the Indian skipper Hardik Pandya gives him a lot of support behind the scenes. After Suryakumar Yadav's phenomenal knock of 112 and a clinical performance by the bowlers, India dominated the Lankans in all fields of the game and clinched a 91 run victory along with the series.
Axar delighted with his contribution
"Feel happier when the team benefits from my batting (when compared to bowling). Did not do anything different for this series, just that the captain gave me a lot of confidence in the dugout. He tells me to play freely and tells me that he is there to protect me. We do a lot of planning during team meetings but sometimes things do go wrong and I just focus on doing my plans properly," said Axar in a post-match presentation.
