West Indies Women have announced the return of their star all-rounder Stafanie Taylor for their upcoming tour of South Africa, where they will be engaged in a T20I Tri-Nation series involving the hosts and India.

The 16-member squad, captained by Hayley Matthews, also sees the inclusion of middle-order batter Britney Cooper to amp up their batting.

Taylor, due to an injury, missed out on playing a white-ball home series against England, which will boost West Indies' chances in the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup as well.

Pacers Shamilia Connell and Shakera Selman continue to find their place on the side despite injury concerns.

The Tr-nation series starts on January 19, with Windies playing matches on January 21 and 25 against South Africa, and on January 21 and 30 against India.

Chief selector Ann Browne-John welcomed the experienced players back into the set-up.

"Our batting in the most recent series was less than par against a very good England bowling attack. We believe that with the return of some experienced batters, they will be able to support captain Hayley Matthews at the top of the order.

"The selection panel has named a squad that we believe has the talent and experience to compete against India and South Africa."

West Indies are placed in Group B alongside England, Ireland and Pakistan in the Women's T20 World Cup 2023, and play their first match on February 11.
