Australia's match on Monday against Ireland saw a few injury concerns in the Australian dugout as captain Aaron Finch, Marcus Stoinis and Tim David were all sent for scans following complaints of pain

Possibilities of a rule-out come in as the news of the trio's injury surfaces. Steve Smith, a veteran in the team has been on the sidelines in the T20 World Cup so far.

Who might come in? Smith spares his thoughts

The Australian management is looking for a batting heavy-side. Now that Stoinis stands the chance of being ruled out together, Cameron Green may come in the side. Understanding that Green can bowl as well as perform brilliantly with the bat.

The chances of Steve Smith making a feature in the squad still is not guaranteed. Smith has stated that he understands that the selectors might pivot towards Green or Matthew Wade to come in instead.

“I assume Wadey will take the reins, but I’m happy to help in any way I can, I’ve got a lot of experience, vice-captain of the Test side and been captain before, so happy to help in any way I can. Fingers crossed the guys who’ve had their scans get some good news."

Smith had battled with an elbow injury preceding the World Cup.

“I feel like I’m starting to find a nice groove and probably batted for longer in the nets than I have for a while now and a lot of that comes down to my elbow that’s feeling good now,”

"Previously I couldn’t have batted for as long without stirring it up. I feel like I’m finding some really good rhythm. The way I play translates across formats, I don’t really change the way I play, it’s more just the tempo of the game."

"The way the tournament has panned out with the wickets, if you’ve got someone who can bat through a fair chunk of the innings and let the hitters go around him, that’s worked pretty well. I certainly feel like I can play that role."
