The build-up to Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2026 has picked up pace and Dhaka Capitals have welcomed a big name to their camp just in time. Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar arrived in Dhaka on Sunday to officially kickstart his role as mentor of Dhaka Capitals ahead of the upcoming season.
Rawalpindi Express arrives as Shoaib Akhtar joins Dhaka Capitals
Famous across the cricketing world as the Rawalpindi Express, Shoaib Akhtar brings with him pace, personality and experience galore. And Dhaka Capitals are clearly banking on all three as they gear up for BPL 2026.
Akhtar was warmly received on arrival by the franchise’s owner organisation, Remark HB, setting the tone for what both sides hope will be a fruitful partnership.
The Pakistan veteran has been there, done that and bowled faster than anyone else. From hostile spells to big-match pressure, he has seen it all. That kind of know-how doesn’t come from textbooks. It comes from scars, sweat and moments under the limelight.
As mentor, Akhtar is expected to work closely with the bowlers, share insights with the youngsters and help shape a fearless approach. Off the field, his presence alone can lift energy levels. On the field, his advice could be gold dust.
Eyes on BPL 2026 opener
The 12th edition of the BPL kicks off on December 26 and Dhaka Capitals won’t have to wait long to get going. They face Rajshahi Warriors on December 27 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
With Akhtar already on board, the Capitals will hope to hit the ground running. The preparations start now. The fine-tuning begins early and the intent is clear: no half measures.
