In a significant development, former CSK star Deepak Hooda has caught BCCI's attention for a suspected bowling action. The 30-year-old, who is in search of a new team during IPL 2026 auction, now fears being banned from bowling in IPL 2026. A recent report stated that Hooda's action caught BCCI's attention during Rajasthan vs Jharkhand Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match, where he bowled three overs.
Deepak Hooda fears a bowling ban
A cricbuzz report stated that Hooda has now entered the list of players with suspect bowling actions for the second year in a row. For IPL 2025, Hooda was part of CSK, where he played seven games, but didn't bowl a single over. However, if the apex cricket board of India finds Hooda guilty this time around, the 30-year-old will face a ban from bowling for IPL 2026.
Further, the BCCI has also informed all ten franchises about the recent notice issued to the player in regards to his action ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction on December 16. In the recent times, Hooda bowled a solitary over in Ranji Trophy and has bowled five overs in the ongoing SMAT edition, picking up a wicket.
Other than Hooda, the only other player with a suspect action is Abid Mushtaq of Jammu and Kashmir.
Deepak Hooda's IPL auction chances hampered
For the IPL 2026 auction, Deepak Hooda is placed in set 2 with a base price of 75 lakhs. He has garnered little interest recently because of his past performance. In IPL 2025, he only amassed 31 runs in five innings, averaging 6.20. Further his IPL 2024 performance was underwhelming as well with just 145 runs in nine innings, avaring 18.13.
Now with suspected bowling action, it is further likely to reduce his IPL chances ahead of the next edition.
