Heading into a busy domestic season, Victoria Cricket (VC) were dealt with a massive blow after paceman James Pattinson parted ways with the club. Victoria have named Xavier Crone as a replacement for the former Australian fast bowler in their current contract list.

Crone, who signed a rookie deal back in 2016 with the club, makes a return in the Adam Griffiths-coached side. Initially missing out on a 2022-23 contract, the 34-year-old played his only First-Class game for Victoria last year against New South Wales, picking up four wickets.

The Strathfieldsaye-born has played 5 List-A matches picking seven wickets and scoring 25 runs.

He represented the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22 league, appearing in two matches. Interestingly, Crone was Victoria's 866th player.

VC chief Graham Manou welcomed Crone back into the setup

"we're pleased to welcome Xavier back onto our contracted list, he has been part of the Victorian system for many years and is someone we see a lot of potential in,”
