Centuries from Litchfield and Tahlia Wilson help NSW-W beat WA-W by 58 runs

Brilliant hundreds from opener Tahlia Wilson (101 off 127) and 19-year-old, No.3 Phoebe Litchfield (107 off 105) helped New South Wales Women to pick up a comfortable 58-run win over Western Australian Women in Sydney on Sunday (October 02).

Batting first, NSW Women lost champion opener Alyssa Healy (14 off 20) cheaply inside the first 10 overs, but what followed next was a prolonged phase of classical 50-over batting from the duo of Wilson and Litchfield.

The duo added 195 runs for the 2nd wicket in 32 overs before Litchfield eventually fell to Taneale Peschel after a well compiled 100.

This triggered a collapse as the Western Australian attack-led by Lilly Mills (2/54 in 10) and Amy Edgar (2/36 in 7) wiped off the middle and lower-order even as NSW breached the 300-run (302) mark.

Chasing 303, Western Australian Women lost Beth Mooney for just 16, but skipper Chloe Piparo (55 off 71) and Maddy Darke (51 off 73) kept them in the hunt with a 78-run stand.

But, the dismissal of Piparo (courtesy of Sammy Jo-Johnson) triggered a fatal collapse that saw them go from 114-1 in the 23rd over to 162-8 in the 37th.

Peschel (45 off 39) and Piepa Cleary (35 off 44) fought valiantly but all it did was lessen the margin of defeat, which eventually turned out to be 58 runs.
