Sri lanka's limited overs skipper Dasun Shanaka is optimistic about his team's chances of winning the upcoming World Cup scheduled to take place in Australia from next month.

Sri Lanka is heading to Australia with a lot of genuine excitement and optimism, though their recent success in the Asia Cup has raised expectations from them to continue the same winning momentum and do well in the silverware event.

The 2014 T20 World Cup winners are heading down under two weeks before their opening match against Namibia on October 16. Prior to this, in the last week of September, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) organised a skills-intensive camp for the players to sharpen themselves for the World Cup.

Shanaka talked about his team's preparations for the multi-nation tournament and how winning the Asia Cup will help the team to pose a challenge to other teams and claim their second T20 world title.

The Lankan skipper stated that his side has got all the attributes to emerge victorious in the global event if the right decisions are taken and plans made by them are executed on the given day.

“If we make the right decisions on the day and execute our plans, I am certain we can come out victorious. The confidence level is definitely higher [than at the last World Cup], but my concern has always been the process. Even at the last World Cup, I felt we had the talent to at least make the semi-finals. The important thing is your ability to play and deliver on the day.”
