Durham County Cricket Club (DCCC) have announced the signing of wicket-keeper Chris Benjamin from Warwickshire County Cricket Club (WCCC) on loan for the remainder of the County Championship 2022.

Benjamin will feature in Durham's County Division two match against Sussex today at Chester-le-Street. The 23-year-old will also feature in the season finale against Nottinghamshire on September 26.

Durham are placed sixth in the Division Two points table with two wins, two losses, and eight draws.

For Warwickshire in the current edition, Benjamin has played five games and scored 175 runs with a top score of 47. Overall, the Johannesburg-born has played 10 First-Class games amassing 419 runs, with one century to his name.

Director of Cricket, Paul Farbrace welcomed the new signee into the setup looking to gain experience.

“Chris’ move to Durham will allow him to get valuable game time as the season comes to a close. He is highly thought of at Warwickshire and the experience he’ll gain as a wicket-keeper will stand him in good stead ahead for next year.”
