St Lucia Kings secured a nerve-wracking victory by one run against Trinbago Knight Riders in Match 23 of the Caribbean Premier League 2022 at Tarouba.

Johnson, Wiese power Kings to a competitive total

Invited to bat first, Kings lost its skipper Faf du Plessis early. However, the talented pair of Johnson Charles (54) and Niroshan Dickewella (21) steered the team on the right path.

In the lower middle order, David Wiese continued his blistering form to hit 33 off 14, which propelled Kings to a total of 147.

Knight Riders fall short by a whisker

In response to the chase, the in-form Tim Seifert was promoted to the top, wherein he played an anchor role. On the other hand, the struggle of Nicholas Pooran (0) continued, while Colin Munro (1) failed to continue the same form as they perished to Roston Chase.

In the 16th over, Seifert was dismissed for a well-compiled 44 and laid a stable platform. The Knight Riders skipper Kieron Pollard finally rose from oblivion to hit 34 off 23.

With 22 runs required off the last over, Andre Russell slammed two sixes and a four, but the Kings managed to seal the game by one run.

Roston Chase was the wrecker-in-chief for the Kings with three scalps.
