Paceman Naseem Shah captivated millions of fans with his performance in his T20I debut for Pakistan against India last month in the Asia Cup. Shah rallied a young and inexperienced bowling attack around him in the absence of Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait, who is now working with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as national side bowling coach, revealed similarities between himself and Naseem ahead of the seven-match T20I series against England beginning on Tuesday.

“In some ways, Naseem Shah reminds me of myself when I was a younger cricketer. He’s sort of free-spirited. But I wasn’t as intelligent as he is at this age. I think you’ve all seen his natural abilities and skill with the new ball, which is excellent,”

Tait, renowned as one of the fastest bowlers in world cricket, hailed Pakistan's attack as one to watch out for in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in Australia in October.

"Pakistan fast bowlers have their natural abilities. They like to keep things simple but they’ve got so much ability and have a lot of flair. So, that’s already ingrained in these guys.”

Shah, 19, has already played 13 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 5 T20Is for Pakistan since 2019.
