Criticising the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is not always the best option for someone who is looking forward to a job within the organisation.

Former England bowler Stephen Harmison, who was looking forward to a job as England's national selection, now fears that he might not get the role, given his recent attack on The Hundred league.

Speaking on the Vaughan and Tuffers Cricket Club podcast, Harmison expressed his ambitions to become a national team selector after being rejected earlier.

"I've applied for it once before. But the way I’ve been throwing hand grenades at the ECB over the Hundred, I’m not sure I’d be welcome! I have not applied for it yet, but I am thinking hard about it. It is something that intrigues me,"

"I can’t throw stones at the ECB without being willing to try and help - and I am willing to try and help shape the future of English cricket."

Stokes, Buttler, McCullum are going places: Harmison

A veteran of 63 Tests, 58 ODIs, and 2 T20Is for England, Harmison lauded the current ECB regime led by Robert Key, who played with the former during their cricketing days.

"One of my best mates in the game is Rob Key. I have a huge amount of respect for what he has done and I’d love to work with this group. Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Brendon McCullum - I think they are going places. They are trying to save Test match cricket by playing the way they are playing."

The 43-year-old maintained that the selector should always be in the background and look towards a better future.
