India's back-to-back losses in the Super four stage of Asia Cup 2022 took former players by surprise and made everyone question India's preparations for the event.

Skipper Rohit Sharma's leadership skills are now being criticised by former players more after last evening's loss against Sri Lanka, which almost put the defending champions out of the tournament.

Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has lashed out at the Indian skipper for his captaincy while maintaining that this result could help the side understand their limitations ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

"India haven’t played all that badly, but they haven’t done well and fans are within their rights to get frustrated,"

"India shouldn’t be disheartened, but they need to learn quickly. They need to find their best combination and Rohit Sharma needs to sharpen his captaincy and stay patient."

India entered the Super four after winning both group stage fixtures convincingly. However, they failed to sustain their momentum, losing crucial Super four clashes against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue will play their last Super four match against Afghanistan this Friday at the Dubai International Stadium.
