County Championship 2022 | Division Two Round-Up, September 6

The County Championship Division Two witnessed three matches being played on Tuesday (September 6). Here's a sneak peek into the action, which underwent today at Derby, Cardiff and Nottingham. 


Derbyshire vs Durham

After Derbyshire ended Day 1 on 306/10, Durham started their innings afresh. The talented openers Michael Jones and Sean Dickson provided a solid start to the team. 

The duo added 79 runs for the first wicket before Aitchison sent Dickson (28) back to the hut. Soon, the wickets of skipper Scott Borthwick (4) and Nic Maddinson put Durham under pressure (8). Jones slammed a well-compiled 87 off 152, laced with 15 fours. 


Then, Jonathan Bushnell (25) and Liam Trevaskis (25) produced a fightback, before Conners dismissed them in quick succession.  The quick wickets of the tail-enders have kept Durham stuttering at 222/9, at the end of the Day.

Worcestershire vs Glamorgan

Worcestershire started the Day 2 on 285/7 with Gareth Roderick and Joe Leach at the crease. Both the batters looked flawless in the morning session to boost the team to a strong score. It was James Harris, who finally put an end to 167-run stand, by dismissing Leach (87). 


Roderick remained unbeaten on his career-best 172 off 348, as Worcs declared on 454/9. Timm van der Gugten was the pick of the bowlers for Worcestershire with four scalps. 

In response, Glamorgan lost their skipper David Lloyd (4) early to Ben Gibbons. However, Eddie Byrom and Shubman Gill stitched a sturdy stand to guide the team on the right path. 

In the last session of Day's play, Gibbon dismissed Byrom (67). With Gill (34*) and Gugten (2*) at the crease, Glamorgan are at 111/2.

Nottinghamshire vs Leicestershire 

Notts started the Day 2 on 15/0, with a lead of 123 runs under their belt. It was a strong first session for them as Ben Slater (39) and Haseeb Hameed (60) were clinical with their approach. 

Then, the pair of Matthew Montgomery (44) and Joe Clarke (67) further added 101 runs for the third wicket. Coming at number five, Lyndon James played a breezy knock of 61 off 82 balls to further boost the team's prospects. 


The contributions of lower-middle-order saw them declaring on 390/7 and setting up a mammoth target of 499 runs. At the end of Day's play, Sam Evans (10*) and Hassan Azad (4*) are at the crease with Leicestershire at 20/0.
