After Waqar Younis, former New Zealand great Scott Styris admitted that India will have an edge in the Asia Cup encounter against Pakistan. The fans will get to see the two rivals lock horns in a mouth-watering contest on August 28 at the Dubai International Stadium.

A few days back, Pakistan were dealt with a massive blow as their pace mainstay Shaheen Afridi was ruled out of the tournament. Afridi has endured a knee injury and has been recommended a break of four to six weeks. The same means that the pacer will be missing Asia Cup 2022 while his chances of playing against England are also in jeopardy.

Shaheen’s terror for the Indian top-order

The absence of the 22-year-old will be a huge relief for the Men in Blue. Shaheen had played the starring role in India’s ten-wicket loss against Pakistan last year in the ICC T20 World Cup. The left-hander had left the opposition hyperventilating by accounting for three major wickets in the form of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul.

Thus, a lot of veterans believes that Afridi not playing the tournament will be a huge plus for Rohit Sharma & Men. New Zealand great Styris also agreed to the narrative as he pointed out the disadvantage for the Men in Green.

Speaking about the exclusion of Afridi, the former cricketer mentioned that not only India but all the nations will be happy with the youngsters’ injury.

Styris hailed Afridi as a proper fast bowler

The Kiwi player counted the positives of the pacer saying that he has everything a fast bowler should possess, including height, pace, bounce, the ability to swing the ball and the variations that a left-hander has.

Pakistan definitely are at the receiving end with Shaheen Afridi missing the tournament. However, the condition of India is no better, as a back injury has also ruled Jasprit Bumrah out.
