England international Matthew Potts and Durham County Cricket Club (DCCC) have signed a deal extending the former stay for two more years.

Potts has been associated with Durham since the age of nine and is a product of their academy.

The Sunderland-born made his Durham debut in 2017 against Kent and has featured in 29 First-Class and 11 List-A matches. He has 96 FC wickets, 16 List-A, and 49 T20 wickets.

“I am delighted to sign an extension with Durham and commit a further 2 years to the club. I am looking forward to the future and what the club can achieve over this next period."

Career at glance

Potts made his England debut against New Zealand at Lord's earlier this year, where he was the second-highest wicket-taker behind Trent Boult (16). Overall, he has 18 wickets from 4 Tests.

He played his only One-Day International (ODI) against South Africa in July.

The lanky fast-bowler has been named in England's playing XI for the first Test against South Africa starting on Wednesday (August 17).

Ahead of the three-Test series, Potts played in The Hundred league for Northern Superchargers to gain much-needed match practise.

He was also picked up by the Lahore Qalandars (LQ) for the last edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Thrilled to have Potts: Director of Cricket Marcus North

“We are thrilled that Matthew has agreed to extend his contract with us at Durham. He has continued to progress and develop in recent years and that was evident with his England call up earlier this summer.”
