The Division Two of the ongoing 2022 County Championship continued with three matches on Tuesday, July 26. Here is a look at how each of the three games panned out before stumps.

Worcestershire vs Derbyshire

Derbyshire made a strong comeback on Day 2 of their Division Two game against hosts Worcestershire. To start off the day, they took the final five wickets of Worcestershire’s first-innings for just an additional 44 runs.

Giving away a 55-run half-game advantage to the hosts, the Derbyshire batters came out strongly and charted 286-6 off the remaining 83 overs of the day. Anuj Dal, who top-scored for his side with 55 on Day 1, reached an unbeaten 85 by stumps.

Durham vs Middlesex

Durham captain Scott Borthwick called for a declaration to his side’s first innings at 421-7. Opener Michael Jones reached his double hundred while Middlesex skipper Toby Roland-Jones chipped in with four wickets in the innings.

The visiting openers survived the remaining 16 overs of Day 2, reaching 43-0.

The visiting Sussex batters lost half their side in their first-innings response before stumps. Interim captain Cheteshwar Pujara occupies the crease at 34* and will resume his side’s batting crusade on Day 3.
