The Indian Premier League (IPL) is moving towards the business end and teams are fighting it out for a place in the playoffs.

Throughout the 56 matches, we have seen some exemplary display of batting (both by Indian and foreign batters). We have seen truckloads of runs and the tournament has witnessed batters dominating the game like never seen before.

So, let us look at the top-run scorers in IPL 2023. Players who have dominated the proceedings and lead the run-scoring charts at the moment.

1) Faf du Plessis

What a revelation du Plessis has been for the RCB team. He was appointed their skipper last season, and with age, the former South African captain has become a better T20 player.

The RCB skipper has been their best batter by a country mile, racking up 576 runs in 11 matches. But the most astonishing part are his strike rate (157.80) and the average (57.60). RCB need to win their remaining games to qualify for the playoffs, and du Plessis with the bat needs to play a big role in that.

2) Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi's story is one for the movies. From struggling to meet the daily needs, to dominating the world's greatest T20 league, the young southpaw has come a long way.

He announced his arrival this season with a staggering century against the Mumbai Indians, and made the world dance to his tunes with the fastest ever IPL fifty against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday. The youngster is just 1 run behind du Plessis in the Orange Cap list with 575 runs.

3) Shubman Gill

The present and future of Indian cricket, Gill has brought his A game this season for the Gujarat Titans. Alongside Wriddhiman Saha, he has formed a formidable opening partnership capable of dismantling any attack.

The elegant batter has smashed 469 runs in 11 matches, with a strike-rate of 143.42 and an average of 46.90.

4) Devon Conway

The second foreign player on this list, Devon Conway has been CSK's backbone this season.  He rarely has struggled on Chepauk's spin-friendly tracks and has consistently given solid starts alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The Kiwi batter has amassed 468 runs in 12 matches, with a strike-rate of 136.84. The southpaw has slammed five fifties in the ongoing tournament.

5) Virat Kohli

Despite his strike-rate coming under scrutiny time after time, it is fair to say that Kohli has found his mojo back. The former India and RCB skipper has been one of the best strikers of pace bowling this season, but has struggled against quality spin.

The top-order batter has slammed 420 runs in 11 matches, including 6 fifties to his name.
