Known as 'Invincibles at Home', India lost their One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia earlier this month, much to the disappointment of critics and fans. India have rarely lost a bilateral series in their home conditions, however, this cannot be said for global events.

India, who last won an ICC title back in 2013 under MS Dhoni's captaincy, have come close several times in the past 10 years but failed to cross the final hurdle. Rohit Sharma and Co. are the front runners to clinch the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023, which is being held in India this October.

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly, speaking about India's chances, said they have to be aggressive in their approach to clinching a global title. With the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 also next year, India can do an England as well and hold both trophies at the same time.

Speaking to the Times of India, the former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president added that all-rounder Hardik Pandya could potentially be India's next permanent captain.

Here's what Dada said

"India have to play aggressively, especially in T20s. They have the team to do that. Indian cricket will always have talent and a big pool. It's the ones who are more hungry go to the next level. It's about how you prepare for the big tournaments."

"IPL is a good breeding ground. We have seen how well Hardik Pandya has captained in the IPL. That's one of the reasons why he has been captaining India in the shorter formats also," Dada added.

Pandya has been leading India in white-ball cricket for a while in absence of Sharma.

India's first ICC assignment before the World Cup will be the World Test Championship 2021-2023 final where they take on Australia in June at the Oval.
