Just before the English County season begins, Somerset grabbed the services of England all-rounder Craig Overton again as he agreed to sign a three-year contract extension.

The Barnstaple-born's previous deal was about to expire and now he has agreed to be with the Tom Abell-led side until the end of the 2026 season.  Overton joined the Somerset Club back in 2012 and made his County debut against Lancashire. Overall, he has represented the Club in more than 200 matches across formats, scoring in excess of 3800 runs and scalping over 500 wickets.

The right-arm pacer's best County season was in 2017 in which he dismissed 46 batters. This eventually brought him in the limelight and was picked in the England's Test squad for the 2017 Ashes.

Overton made his international red-ball debut in the pink-ball Test at Adelaide and cleaned up Steven Smith to bag his maiden Test wicket. He has played eight Tests, and seven ODIs for England, picking 21 and 5 wickets respectively.

After inking the deal, Craig Overton said:

"I’m delighted to sign this long extension with the club. Somerset fans know how much the club means to me and that I’m hungry for team success. There is still lots to achieve, not least the holy grail of a county championship title."

Andy Hurry, the Director of Cricket of Somerset CCC, was delighted after snapping the ace all-rounder, and said:

"Year in, year out Craig Overton is one of this country’s leading performers. He is consistently amongst the best players within the domestic game, and this has quite rightly been rewarded with international recognition.

He is a genuine match-winner across the formats of the game, and it has been a real pleasure for us all to watch his journey and his progression over the course of his time with us thus far. He loves this Club, and he knows what it means to represent Somerset both on and off the field. His attitude, work ethic and will to win are second to none."

Somerset will kickstart their County Division One season against Warwickshire on April 6 at Taunton.
