Justin Langer, Graeme Smith among MCC World committee’s new additions

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) have announced three new additions to their world cricket committee. Former Australian coach Justin Langer is among the trio of new members, consisting of ex-South African captain Graeme Smith and England’s ex-skipper Clare Connor.
Langer, Smith become MCC’s first new appointments since 2020
On February 7, the MCC announced additional members to their cricketing committee. They welcomed a trio of former cricketers, namely Justin Langer, Graeme Smith and Clare Connor. The aforementioned heavyweights became MCC’s first new appointments since 2020.
The committee features a mix of current and former players as well as umpires and other officials. Notably, Smith was elected as an honorary life member of the club back in 2019 for his decorated career.
Former English batter and current chairman of the MCC Cricket Committee Mike Gatting expressed his excitement and welcomed the three legends into the group. He said:
“We are extremely pleased to be able to welcome Clare, Justin, and Graeme to the World Cricket committee. It is fantastic news that they have accepted our invitations.”
He added that the three experts will hopefully share their insights and knowledge of the game which will benefit the committee.
“All three will bring different insights to the game and their deep knowledge from the elite level will be hugely advantageous to the work of the committee. I am looking forward to hearing their contributions to the important discussions that we have planned.”
The MCC is a prestigious committee which is recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as the sole authority on cricketing laws.
