David Warner, Beth Mooney bag Cricket Australia's ODI Player of the Year Awards for 2022

Australian modern-day giants, David Warner and Beth Mooney have been named ODI Players of the Year for 2022 by Cricket Australia at their annually hosted Cricket Australia Awards. 

Warner, 36, had a prolific year with the bat in the 50-over format, racking up 552 runs at an average of 42.46 with a strike rate of 92.61 after playing 13 ODIs in the year 2022.

In the year, he smashed a hundred and four half-centuries, including a ton against England that was his first in the format after almost three years and a breath-taking 99 against Sri Lanka in Colombo.


The other nominees for CA's Men's ODI of the Year were the former Australian skipper Steve Smith and Travis Head, who has had one enterprising at the international level. 

Meanwhile, the Australian vice-captain had a tough fight with her skipper Meg Lanning and Alyssa Healy. But Mooney beat Lanning by one vote, while Healy finished in the third spot. 


Just like Warner, the 29-year-old cricketer also had one enthralling year. In the year, when Australia won the historic Commonwealth Games; Mooney had been the one player to have to be watched out for. 

In terms of numbers, it was her second-best year in international cricket in the ODI format. After 10 matches, she snapped 403 runs - averaging 100.75 and striking at the rate of 96.41 - with zilch hundreds and three fifties. 

Cricket Australia has also announced the Domestic Cricketers of the Year, Michael Neser and Annabel Sutherland winning them. While Lance Morris got named the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year.
