Rohan Kunnummal, the talented opening batter from Kerala has been in great form across formats. He became the first Kerala player to score three successive hundreds in the Ranji Trophy last season.

The 24-year-old continued his good run of form in Duleep Trophy, where he notched up a century on his debut for South Zone against North Zone in September. He churned out stellar performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy this season.

The national selectors rewarded Rohan for his consistency by including him in India A squad for the recent tour of Bangladesh. There are high chances that franchises might go after him in the IPL 2023 auction, especially Kolkata Knight Rides, who are currently an opener short.

Speaking on the same, Rohan stated that the quality of cricket being played in the Indian Premier League is entirely different, and if he gets a chance in featuring the cash-rich league, it will be a great learning experience for him. However, as of now, he is not thinking about the auction much.

“To be frank I am not thinking too much about the auction for the simple reason that if I don't get picked up it will be a disappointment. It will be a big plus if I get a chance in the IPL. The quality of cricket is entirely different and it will be such a learning experience,”

Rohan further shed light on how it feels to play all three formats and what it takes to adapt to the conditions. The young Kerala opener also revealed that he has worked on his power-hitting abilities and fitness to stay relevant in the shortest format as well.

“I like to adapt to the conditions. Each match is different. I study the bowlers and the wicket. In the shorter versions of the game, especially in T20, the onus is on hitting boundaries. I have worked on my power-hitting and fitness. Fitness is of utmost importance as we have a hectic schedule."

The IPL auction will take place on 23rd December in Kochi with many of the mega-stars up for grabs.
