Johan Botha joins Karachi Kings as head coach ahead of PSL 8

Former South Africa cricketer Johan Botha has been brought in by Karachi Kings as head coach ahead of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League. Botha will replace former England coach and captain Peter Moores as the coach of the franchise.
The former Proteas allrounder will have the assistance of the legendary Wasim Akram, who is the mentor of the team, and the bowling coach Dougie Brown in the think-tank.
The 40-year-old, who played for South Africa from 2005 to 2012, shifted to Australia and captained South Australia Redbacks before playing Big Bash till 2021.
Meanwhile, Botha has an old connection with the PSL as he head coached Islamabad United in 2021.
On Wednesday, the franchise also announced their new skipper in the form of Imad Wasim, after star batter Babar Azam parted ways with them to join Peshawar Zalmi.
The Kings have had a poor season last year under the leadership of Babar and Moores, as they finished on the last spot of the points table; losing nine out of 10 games played.
The winners from the 2020 edition will look to revamp their whole unit in the PSL draft, scheduled for Thursday evening.
As far as the current core is concerned, apart from the skipper - Shoaib Malik, Haider Ali, Mohammad Amir, Aamir Yamin, Mir Hamza, Sharjeel Khan and Qasim Akram were retained by the franchise ahead of the draft.
