After a defining victory against India in the first T20I, Australia have been handed a blow as spinner Jess Jonassen has been sidelined from the tour due to a hamstring injury. In her place, leg-spinning all-rounder Amanda-Jade Wellington has been drafted into the squad.

Jonassen has already returned to Brisbane whereas Wellington will be reaching the Indian shores and will be available for the third T20I.

What Cricket Australia mentioned in their statement

Kate Beerworth, the Australian team's physiotherapist mentioned that it was not at all possible for her to recover in time.

"She’s since been assessed and it’s evident that the timeframes required for a return during this series are too short,

"Jess will be unavailable for the remainder of the series and will return to Brisbane to continue her rehab."

Further, she is expected to be fit for the limited-over series against Pakistan in January along with T20 World Cup to be held in South Africa.

Wellington was not in the main squad as they decided to fill their squad with pacers to test them before the mega-event.

Aussies gave the Indian side a thumping in the first game by nine wickets and will now again lock horns on Sunday.
