Fast bowling all-rounder Kim Garth received her maiden Australian women's white-ball call-up for their upcoming India tour comprising five T20Is. Garth, who moved from Ireland, having represented their women's national team in 34 ODIs and 51 T20Is, played for Victoria Cricket since 2020, in hopes of making it into Australia's set-up.

Interestingly, Garth, 26, toured India back in 2016 with the Irish Women's side for the ICC T20 Women's World Cup.

Garth, who has played for teams like the Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL), called the league a major motivator apart from a robust domestic system for making her move from Ireland to Australia.

As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, the pacer spoke in detail about stepping up in her career and getting back into international cricket with Australia.

"It's not necessarily a step up but about consistency of the games we are playing.

I feel like I have put in some good consistent performances in the domestic cricket over recent years and I am really excited to take the next step up and get back to international cricket, albeit for a different team,"

The Dublin-born revealed that she first spoke to her parents when she received her Australian call-up, which was rather late in the night.

All T20Is between India and Australia will be played at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai between December 9 and 20.
