The ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2022 enters its business as four state sides take on each other in the semi-finals to book a spot in the tournament final scheduled for Friday.

Karnataka vs Saurashtra

Both Karnataka and Saurashtra topped their respective groups to head into the knockout rounds, with momentum in their stride. Karnataka, however, have looked more menacing, having lost just one game in the competition, displaying an all-round show thus far.

Key Players

  • Vasuki Koushik: Karnataka's attack has been ably spearheaded by Koushik, who has been in top form this season, despite the batters dominating almost every bowler.
  • Dharmendrasingh Jadeja: A bowling all-rounder, Jadeja has managed to stifle opponents with his willy spin and will definitely be put under the pump by Karnataka batters.

Prediction

The Mayank Agarwal-led will head into the match as favorites, given the star-studded line-up, while the Jaydev Undakat-captained side, known for upstaging big teams, will look to do better than the result from last year.

Maharashtra vs Assam

The second semi-finals will be a slug-fest between the two sides, who have been scoring runs by the buckets. Maharashtra are yet to lose a match this season and will look to maintain its streak while Assam will want to add to their giant-slayer reputation.

Key Players

  • Ruturaj Gaikwad: Enjoying the purplest of patches, Gaikwad holds the key to Maharashtra's success. Coming off a record-making 220*, the CSK player will look to continue his rich form.
  • Riyan Parag: Parag has been unstoppable for Assam, notching up three centuries in the ongoing edition. Having picked up nine wickets, Parag's exploits with the ball adds to his impressive show.

Prediction

Maharashtra heads into the draw as firm favorites, given their off-late form, however, Assam could manage to balance out the law of averages and spring up a surprise, which they have a history of.
