Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues has expressed her delight to be returning to international comeback after recovering from injury concerns.

Rodrigues, who went out of favour in the ODI World Cup earlier this year, has made a terrific turnaround since then. In the Women's T20 Challenge, she slammed 90 runs in two innings and earned a national recall for the Sri Lanka series. In three games, the 22-year-old scored 72 runs in three appearances.

The Commonwealth Games 2022 witnessed her scoring 146 runs in five innings and playing a key role for the Women in Blue to secure a silver medal.

The elegant batter then returned to feature for the Indian team in the ongoing Women's Asia Cup 2022. In the first game against Sri Lanka on Saturday, she slammed 76 off 53 to help India get off to a winning start.

After being awarded Player of the Match, Rodrigues thanked the coaches, parents and trainers for her swift comeback after six weeks.

“It was tough not doing the thing I love and seeing everyone else do it. But everyone helped me, my parents, coaches and my trainers, I wanted to thank them. Nothing like coming back and playing for India,” said Rodrigues.

India Women's team will next face Malaysia Women on Monday (October 6).
