Islamabad pacer Shehzad Azam dies due to heart failure; Hafeez, Shan Masood pours tributes

Pakistan domestic veteran Shehzad Azam passed away due to a cardiac arrest. The cricketer played for Islamabad and has 388 first-class wickets to his name from 95 appearances.

Ever since the news broke on social media, several former and active Pakistani cricketers have poured their condolences.

Shehzad Azam passes away at 36

Shehzad Azam passed away on the morning of September 30 due to a cardiac arrest.

After his demise, Pakistan cricketers like Mohammad Hafeez, Sohail Tanveer, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Wahab Riaz and Shan Masood took to Twitter and expressed their condolences.

Hafeez wrote that he was shocked to hear the news and described Azam as a talented and hardworking fast bowler.

Azam made his first-class debut for Islamabad during the 2007 edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The speedster impressed with four wickets on his debut and drove his side to a thrilling win over Lahore Shalimar.

Overall, he has claimed 388 first-class wickets at an impressive average of 26.53. The right-arm pacer has 23 five-wicket hauls and two 10-wicket match hauls to his name.

Azam also played 58 List A and 29 T20 games, where he collected 81 and 27 wickets respectively.
