India Legends’ much awaited clash against New Zealand Legends turned out to be a soddened affair at Indore. The match, marking the 12th of the ongoing Road Safety World Series, was the third fixture for both sides in the tournament.

Sachin Tendulkar’s settled start washed out in front of a packed Holkar Stadium

Earlier, New Zealand Legends captain Ross Taylor won the toss and had asked the hosts to bat first in front of a packed Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Indian Legends skipper and crowd-favourite Sachin Tendulkar launched his side’s innings with intent, smacking four effortless boundaries within the powerplay. His opener partner Naman Ojha also clubbed a rapid 18 at the top before Shane Bond’s thunderbolt sent him packing back to the pavilion.

Recently-retired and 2011 World Cup hero Suresh Raina also radiated much confidence during his seven-ball stay before rains halted proceedings.

Tendulkar, who looked good at 19*, had to cut his innings short, thus depriving spectators of a ‘Master Blaster’ classic as the match was officially called-off after 5.5 overs.

The no result means the Indian Legends are now placed at number three on the points table while their New Zealand counterparts are ranked fifth in the eight-team event.

Brief scores:

India Legends: 49-1 (5.5)

Sachin Tendulkar 19* (13), Naman Ojha 18 (15)

Shane Bond 1-17

No Result
