Australia, on Thursday (September 1) announced the squad for the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and tour of India, comprising a three-match T20I series.

To the surprise of many, the Singapore hard-hitting all-rounder Tim David has been included in the 15-member squad.

Aaron Finch will continue shouldering the captaincy duties as the Men in Yellow will aim to defend their World T20 trophy on home turf, after claiming the 2021 edition of the tournament in the UAE.

In another major set of developments, Australia's star opener David Warner has been rested for the T20I series against India to manage his workload.

The Perth all-rounder Cameron Green has been added to the squad and he will replace Warner on the tour of India, set to be played from September 20.

Green has represented Australia in nine One Day Internationals, 14 Tests and only one Twenty20 International.

Overall in 10 T20 innings, the 23-year-old has accumulated 108 runs at an ordinary average of 13.50 and strike rate of 102.85. While with the ball, he has got two wickets from as many innings.

The upcoming tour of India could be a great opportunity for the Western Australian to make a case for himself in the absence of a senior player like David Warner.
