An unbeaten 141-run stand, spearheaded by skipper Karun Nair (91* off 52) propelled the Mysore Warriors (MW) to a comprehensive 10-wicket win over the Hubli Tigers (HT) in the ongoing Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 on Wednesday (August 10) afternoon.

Chasing 142, the Warriors got off to a perfect start as Nair and Nihal Ullal (48* off 43) peeled off 47 runs from the target without breaking a sweat.

Nair was the dominant partner among the two as the right-handed batter smashed boundaries at regular intervals as Nihal went at run-a-ball.

He raced his way to a 31-ball half-century in the 11th over with MW's score reading 87/0.

Nair took just 21 deliveries to smash his next 41 runs. His innings was studded with 11 fours and three sixes, and it meant that the Warriors romped home in just 15.5 overs.

Shreyas Gopal and Shubhang Hedge  choke Hubli Tigers' with spin

Earlier, the Hubli Tigers could never get going in their innings as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Opener Luvnith Sisodia led the way with a rapid 23-ball 38 but the southpaw got little assistance from the other end.

The spin duo of Shreyas Gopal (2-22 in 4 overs) and Shubhang Hegde (1-18 in 4 overs) stifled HT's middle-order with disciplined bowling.

And, it was only because of some late strikes from Tushar Singh (36* off 18) that propelled HT to 140/6.

However, Nair's unbeaten blitz ensured that it proved to be inadequate in the larger scheme of things.

Mysore Warriors will now face Gulbarga Mystics on August 11. Hubli Tigers will also lock horns with the same opposition a day later.

Brief Scores:

Hubli Tigers: 140/6 (20)

Luvnith Sisodia 38 (23), Tushar Singh 36* (18);
Shreyas Gopal 2-22 (4), Shubhang Hegde 1-18 (4)

Mysore Warriors: 141/0 (15.5)

Karun Nair 91* (52), Nihal Ullal 48* (43)

Result: Mysore Warriors won by 10 wickets
